This day we had a tutorial on free hand calligraphy. We’ve been briefed by a lecturer from the college, Mr. Tee, who uses to create art out of Chinese calligraphy, where he will uses different words symbolizing something to him, and he will merge them together so that the characters looks like a new word but is still readable and understandable. It’s more in the placement of the Chinese characters. He sometime even uses drawings along with Chinese characters.

In this case he did his technique with the Chinese calligraphy to create the back but he also added an Arabic character, which is Al-Hab, which translates to the beloved, this artwork is about love.

Then we were given a large piece of paper to fill with calligraphy based on a similar technique, we were allowed to used any language we are used to since there were a few international students.

In this design marked in red I tried to form the word creativity into a brush and in the design marked blue I tried to mix the two words happy and creativity, changing their arrangement and try giving it a Chinese calligraphy look.

And for the rest we just went crazy writing a lot of stuffs in different languages.
