EAOP

As for the EAOP, I decided to go towards music since I knew I could extend this one really far as compared to any other 'One Thing'.

And here's my mindmap, how far I stretched it.

I explored various subjects related to music such as:

1. Abstract music by artists such as 'the carpenter' who wrote like 3 albums expressing his dementia, where he took a distinct melody that he repeated through out the 3 albums by making specific alterations/deformation to create the different phases of dementia

2. Cradle of Filth, who got into legal issues and even went to court to try and recover their rights on their own album which they lost due to the past agreement they made with a record label.

3. The different ways of recording music, the modern VSTis (Virtual Instruments/Plugins) as compared to the physical recording devices.

4. Vocal techniques, and I wanted to emphasis on artists such as Danny Worsnop, a metalcore singer for the band Asking Alexandria who damaged his voice due to incorrect screaming techniques.

I was interested in cultures, such as the Japanese culture who has a very distinctive sound in both their pop music and their rock/metal music. Some unique musical instruments such as the Bells from some Europeans church (Carillon) which is unbelievable since playing it is like turning a church into a musical instrument. Moreover there's Modulars, which are sound designing devices used in the making of sounds and effects (musical effects) for movies or video games mostly. There's also the use of vocaloids, and I was interested in artists such as Gary Numan and IAMX who has a very interesting and creative way of using it to make music itself rather than auto correcting their singing or changing their vocals into let's say a Robotic tone.

Other genres of music that interested me when we think about culture was the Vikings, the Sumarians and other Tribal music.

I was also interested in music psychology, since I found a few theories which try to explain why do people prefer one type of music as compared to the other and they also try to explain the reason why there's a mode in music.

Well..... I really use to keep an eye on the music industry a lot and there's some sort of advertising technique the artist do to gain attention.

2 such examples could be this one rapper Kid Buu who claim he had a clone and obviously Poppy who acts like an alien/robot.

There's actually much more stories, such as King 810 whom the guy talk of being raised in a highly dangerous place in America, Flint, but this one is more based on a realistic situation and a simple search on Google will show you that Flint has indeed one of the highest crime rate.

There's other more interesting artist in the underground world, some who became a laughing stuff such as Etienne Sin, other H7, who made a huge loss in the music industry and was apparently homeless for a while according to one of his Instagram stories but since he's so infamous there's no articles that covers it.

But there's also this Japanese Noise Band, Hanatarash who did a gig once with a bulldozer, making music by destroying everything he could at the venue which has a very unique aesthetic to it.

One less interesting idea would be so look into Sound itself. I do know a bit about sound since I'm such a music addict and I always try to find the phone with the best audio drivers and the earphones with the best sound profile (more highs and mids rather than lows). Additionally to that I'll use a specific music player that allows me to adjust the EQ even more to get that very crisp and clear sound that I'm looking for. So I know that this topic can be stretched further too.

There's obviously various personalities in music, including bands such as Ghost whom no one knows their real identity, the LGTBQ, Androgynous and there's also a high level of bad personalities, which committed crimes such as abuse, murder, drug in take, rape, church burnings amongst a few others.

However there's also some good characters, some who acted heroically at some point such as Gojira who is very active in the Humanitarian movements, and a one act that can be literally classified as a heroic act when Craig Mabbitt saved Nicholas Matthews his friend from a band called Get Scared from suicide.

There are other less heroic acts but I think it's worth mentioning. The band Alien Weaponry, from Netherlands, composed of 4 teenagers who sing in the Maori language, their ancestors language which is in decline after the British colonizes the area.

Furthermore there are some more 'Wise' acts such as the band Tools who sing about spiritual themes and the human ways along with Beyond Creation who sing about the flaws of society and the band Otep who sing about Politics.

As a review from the Tutorial I was told to try and find a focus point for the EAOP since right now it's all over the place and it will be hard to work with. I'm considering on looking into Fashion in the music industry, including goth, cyberpunks, punks, metalhead and so on while also considering pop artists such as Lady Gaga who have a more conceptual approach in their dressing.

Photonovel

As for the photonovel, I still didn't know how to start the story, so I just sat down and began writing.

The first lines is what I got while simply thinking about the concept and the story, trying to think about the people and how the news about the Mad Arab is spreading.

But because I wanted the story to be from The Mad Arab's perspective I took inspiration from the first lines and wrote a short paragraph of what he might be thinking at this point in time. I was also trying to depict a bit of paranoia in his way of talking.

Finally the idea came to follow this flow, where he has already been seen several times performing his dark deeds and he knew that he gonna get caught now. Then the story will go back in time with a small background on how he obtained the book and began practicing it. The story will then pop back to the present where he's caught and try to explain his philosophy at the court but eventually he was executed.

I was told not to use the Shakespearian language as I was intending to through out the whole story but maybe use it only for one chosen character which in my case will obviously be The Mad Arab. I was also told to review the storyline and come up with a bit more detail before I start executing it.

1000 Words

Finally for the 1000words I did some layouts according to the previous reviews.

I thought that this arrangement work quite well and the circle of the plate also make it more interesting. In the first one the red underline feels cumbersome on some texts so I removed it in other places but left it in the middle because it's sort of the title they use to give Rafael.

You will also notice how I played with the different clusters of questions and answers through out each slides. I also try and find different arrangement of the different features such as the quote boxes and so on to find the perfect placement for them to allow the texts to breath.

On the last example I tried something peculiar but I was actually trying to add more detail in it. However, I didn't like it there were no logic behind why I did it, it was more of an experiment which fails.

At this point I still received the review that my texts are too small and unreadable and that even though I placed the headline in the middle purposefully it wasn't a professional decision. Similarly for the plate with the text it might bother some readers since the text is cut.

So I re-worked it out as follows. The spaces were I added the quotes were the spaces which looked suddenly too empty because I was trying to cluster the related texts together.

I did experiment with the boxes trying to give them a perfect fit.

At this point I had to remove various texts, images and quotes. However, I did like the appeal of the layout with the plate, since the roundness was breaking this overly formal appeal and adds a creative touch to it. So on the last slide I added the plate again just as a tryout and it did seem to work.

I also changed the font size and the font itself if you look closely. A similar font so that it doesn't break the theme of the magazine but still it was different just to see whether the readability issues was with the font.

There was a final comment I received about the right page where the question 10 isn't properly clustered with it's respective answer. And as for q16 it looks suddenly too different from the alignment.

I did yet another adjustment and at this point things worked out so this will eventually be the final piece.
