Photonovel

I took sometime to reflect on the story and eventually I had to make a few changes.

So as you can see, I wrote the same extract but in 2 different ways one with the Old Shakespearian English the other with a more modern English. However I noticed that I was taking a while to write it down in the old fashion so I eventually decided to go with the highlighted extract, The Simplified English. However I am expecting to add this Old English to the plot once they get into the court scene.

Here's the writings that will be present in the first 10 pages which might actually change with time depending on whether I develop the idea more and so on.

I also tried imagining each scene and making sure I can make a photograph out of it.

Here's the first 10 pages where I tried to think of scenes that I can actually get without spending much at home itself. Half of the storyline will actually talk about the past of the Mad Arab and the other part will just show how he will be judged and killed.

This is how I made my own homemade Necronomicon based on the one from the movie 'The Evil Dead'. On one side I marked out the center to place the paper which I won't glue but just compress between the book so that I can still use these fresh paper afterwards. On the other side I sketch out a sad face and an angry face to show how the Necronomicon brings madness.

I also prepared some paper mache/clay. I soaked some paper in hot water over night to breakdown their starch and make them softer.

I further scrambled the paper into even tiny pieces after draining the water out of them and I added flour to make it even more sticky and salt to remove the odor that it was suppose to give out over a period of time. It's with this paper clay that I'm planning to make my Cave too from one of the scene above.

I then made a mixture with water and flour to created my homemade glue and I laid it out on the paper and used the paper clay I made to create an elevation on the paper. As soon as I got this elevation I added more glue over it to make sure it's well secure and let it dry.

Afterwards to make the surface smooth like leather I added strips of newspaper over the elevation I created. I actually started having fun and forgot to take the image of the process from there until this part of the process:

After covering the whole thing with newspaper I painted it with a somewhat skin like tone and added some shadow and highlights to edges of the elevation to make it more obvious that there's an elevation at this area. The sad face eventually turn into a laughing face but any .... Let's just say it's a macabre laughter xD

I also tried to disguise myself as the Mad Arab. Using soft pastels that I had at home I tried to make the cheeks looks thinner and the eyes darker along with darker lips... You can actually see the difference but it's not so prominent. I also tuned it into a Black&White image using photoshop with a bit of quick sharpening to see what type of effects I can create. I might actually have to further darken the face with the pastels. But that's my first trial to my first character.

There's a few issues with this appearance. First I'll have to remove my glasses of course xD and secondly my Kurta or however it is called in other countries .... well.. it's a modern one with the zip and not the lace but that's the only one I brought from home so I'll have to do with it.

I also had to learn how to wear the turban in an Arabic way. I used to wear it for Eid but I never did anything special with it just lay it on my head just for the sake of it.

EAOT

As for the EAOT I prepared a survey and this was the way I was planning it. The highlights relate to fashion while the green relates to the people's opinion on an artist.

And here's the Final Survey exported in PDF from Google Forms. I made the survey itself more interesting this time after a suggestion from my lecturer to lead the people to a specific question depending on their responses.

Here's the link to the survey:

I however don't know if it will still be online (to whom it may concern.)

The survey explores question regarding the individual sense of fashion and character/ personality in regard to his/her appearance in public while also exploring their music tastes and their opinion on an artist's appearance on stage. This part will be used to compare with some artist who will be interviewed afterwards.

Here's the questions I prepared for the artist as an interview. The underlined questions are actually optional/only if it applies. I will create another post for the responses because there's a few interesting points I'd like to talk about.

There's a few research I found where they studied the psychological reaction of people in fashion. They talked about how trying out a new fashion, our mind will make us feel uncomfortable with it but the reaction will be either that we adapt to it or that we leave the clothes behind.

I've also explored a few other historical event when it comes to music and fashion in the modern times such as how Justin Bieber made Swag famous. And another very interesting point I found was Dean Morgan the actor stating that the Grunge culture is what helpedhim to build his career as an actor which I think can be used as a positive aspect of fashion.

I've found some interesting books that talks about using fashion to represent rebellion and youthfulness which was interesting to look at.

From the book they talk about how Jeans was considered as a poor person's clothes but was then redefined by a few artist such as Elvis Presley, Gene Vincent among others.

I found another interesting information where some Musicians were promoting Adidas without any agreement with the brand, they did it only because they like the brand themselves. And it was interesting to find how some bands were doing this just out of their own preferences.

From the article it also states how since that time, other brands began recruiting musicians to promote their product afterwards.

There was a lot of things that I was able to observe through a general analysis of the survey itself.

I firstly placed all the information in order of which one(s) was the most chosen.

I did send the survey everywhere on Facebook, over 20 groups, survey sharing groups, selling groups and music sharing groups. I was expecting to have lots of international audience but I actually got most of my responses from Asians, either Indians or those here in the South East Asia so I guess eventually I'll just state that my focus group are Asians after all.

The most listened genres in Asia were pop and kpop and unexpectedly classic music. The aspect they all look for in music are melody and lyrics, through out the whole general analysis of the survey I found how people seem to try to find someone to relate to and give them confidence in themselves.

Everyone seem to have lots of insecurities regarding their choice of clothing. Some however mentioned being intimidated by either their parents or religion for their appearance.

One very interesting thing I wanted to show is how different the data of 'the fashion the people are into is compared to the fashion they actually like. I believe this shows how they insecure they are and in my opinion also how the society suppresses creativity in a way.

Another interesting point was to see that the number of people who actually cares for their appearance in public as compared to those who don't care is almost half way less. So even though we are free to explore our creativity people are still very concern about their appearance.

I did found that there were a few people who had a very interesting sense of fashion, saying they like the dirtiness of an artist, like the grunge culture, but there were very few of them.

As for the image of fashion in general it seems to be pretty fine amongst the people.

After having the general analysis of the survey I started further dissecting it, looking at the interesting parts such as from which fashion group are most people who listen to a particular genres and I also wanted to explore maybe some who had interesting things to say such as those who seem to have a rebellious mind to discover more about them.

I did separate them by age and region but since most were from Asia I decided to change that part and stop looking into the demographics, furthermore most of them are students rather than working adults.

That's the different sections I planned out for my project. There's a few new information in there of which I knew already from my passion in music I'll just find some articles and talked in more details about it in the coming posts. I think I will dedicate most of the pages to my primary research since I have a lot from it and some interesting interviews with artist.
