Here's a few tryout for the cover. I tried making it look like a real magazine. From studying popular magazines such as 'The Rolling Stones' and 'Billboards' I realized that there's most of the time the most important interview on the cover's front. Since I really enjoyed the interview with Melotika and I had more images of her compared to the other artists I decided to put her on the front. I forgot to ask her for her logo so I actually had to re-create the logo on illustrator myself. But because it had sharp edges it was very easy to replicate.
I gave the magazine the name of Shinning Star just to make it look like a real magazine. And the logo was also quickly created via illustrator. Thus the weird appeal of it. Anyway....
Yet again, upon studying the magazines mentioned above and their structure, I realized that there use to be some ads at the back of the cover and around within the book as well as the back cover and the spread before the back cover.
So I designed those spreads which promotes the 2 recent singles of Melotika and Chloe, I didn't include Spells with Guidelines only for the reason that I couldn't find their songs online.
I however skipped the ads within the magazine and at the back, I had my alternatives tho.
The 2 first spreads I designed had a Swiss look to it. They look quite nice however the other spread I had to change this style to give it a more Magazine feeling.
There are some spread which were a bit more challenging as this one. The first Layout that I had in mind lacks the Magazine look so I had to experiment to get the right one.
There were some spreads, especially the ones with the interviews which were found at the end of the Magazine. They were challenging too in the sense whereby I had to find different possibilities to include all of the information which keeping the magazine look and taking into consideration of the coming end of the magazine. That's why there's a spread at the end where there's a white page and one with the special thanks which was my way to get over the ads at the end of the magazine.
Finally I decided to go with the special thanks page, the reference page as an alternative to the ads before the back cover. As for the back cover I found the most inspirational picture Melotika sent me and I used one of the most inspirational things she said during the interview as a quote for this page.
