First I did a mind map to try and find the possible visual elements I could include in my photographic piece to conceptualize it.
From there I did a sketch of what I could possibly do..
Then I realized sketches won't get me too far to started doing it. I also thought that I could sculpt a character or a structure with clay and shoot it.
Here's a couple of the good shots that I got:
You'll notice that I tried to flex my arms to make it look furious and angry to represent the anger from that scene. There's a shot where there's a motion in my arms, it's a natural effect from the tension that I was applying on my fist.
I also changed my outfit a few times to try and experiment with the best fit.
The first few shot happened by mistake somehow.. but it encouraged me to experiment with the motion of face. The idea was to hide my facial feature and leave a few details that allow the viewers to see an angry expression, sort of saying that the appearance of the protagonist is defined by anger.
For these 2 shots I experimented with paint. Since it is one of the most commonly used in the extreme scene... well perhaps not paint but makeup.. However here the paint represent the makeup. Especially cuz most of them have black makeup. So the idea was the same as the face with the motion blur. However, here the face is hidden by the paint. And the paint is so messy that it illustrate chaos, which here acts as the anger. There had to be a few human features so I stood behind it hiding my face with the paint, again saying that hate defines the appearance.
In these shots I tried to collect like.... the aftermath... The process of taking out the makeup.. the hate is illustrated by the chaos in the sink and the moving fist... In some pics the fist is immobile just to experiment. The same image was captured in different perspectives.
This is the exact same idea as above, the only difference is that in this one there's more of the makeup elements. Well since I'm a guy that's all the make up I could find from my friends... Especially because of Covid I couldn't ask from other people more. Even though there's a few makeup equipment in this one the previous one still depicts the makeup part of the extreme scene with the paint spread all over the sink.
These ones were attempts to make it more abstract but honestly... I feel like it looks more like a crime scene as compared to a fashion movement. And some images are so bad since the technique of using a purposeful motion blur was used but.... it's such an unstable method that can in most cases go wrong....
Anyway.... Of course I did a bit of photoshopping... and Here's the result:
Nothing crazy on this one, just cropping it in portrait format.
Since I didn't like the background of my bathroom from the previous pic, I've experimented with way I can use, just this painting on top on another image. I actually prefer the second image as compared to the first one.
Btw... The casual deformation on the paintings by Henrik Uldalen was taken as reference for this piece.
I've also tried a different way of hiding the face using motion and allowing an angry expression to appear within the motion blur.
In most of the pics I tried to hide the face just to add emphasis on the identity part of this fashion movement.
I also tried to achieve a supernatural using very minimal photoediting just like the modern photographer, actively only via instagram under the mysterious name of blvck hvnd. I couldn't find any other information about him, he never talk about his life nor have a website. For more reference on his work he's currently using this name on instagram @blvck.hvnd
