Here are some scratch work that lead me to the final piece.
Anyway back to topic...
I've actually changed a lot of elements within the design itself... like I've removed the other type of gears since not everyone might be aware of them and while giving them their skin they might look even more different.
I however kept the ratchet and ...whatever... basically the long gear instead of the rounded ones, and I've used it to represent the commercial design since it reminded me of a highway where most of the banners are at.
I think it's pretty straight forward, protestation for discursive design, old man's walking stick as responsible. I've also given it a lushful environment since I also believe that responsible design can be related to eco-friendly/sustainable design as well.
Maybe it might however not be so clear why I used a futuristic environment for experimental design. Basically it's because I believe that the best experimental designs are those that involves technology. Especially when the user is interacting with the design in ways we thought not possible before, like a few pieces present at Stefan Sagmeister's Happy Show and a few projects by Olafur Eliason's slow mirror. It's not electronic but it's based on scientific researches on how reflection reacts while manipulating angles and shape which is part of our technological advancement as well.
Background story
Well actually this part wasn't assessed by the lecturer since she was sick but it's basically what I would have presented to her during the tutorial.
Furthermore.... There has been some changes in the course structure due to some complains. Our interview project was extended till the part 2, but I've already started an interview so I might just post it on the blog meanwhile.
Additionally, we won't submit the RNP file for each project, I might however upload the progress since I'm working on it meanwhile eventhough it has been extended.
