Since Rafael Morgan's work is often installations or furniture, I decide to base myself on furniture magazines layout. However, I didn't want it to just look like a typical furniture magazine, I wanted to analyzes his website, try to find the colors that he uses more often, maybe the fonts and so on and try to bring that within the magazine layout that I will be designing.
Here's some inspiration I found on Pinterest. I will zoom into the elements that I actually really enjoyed in each but I wanted to make something neat and 'Swiss' like the examples above. I will share some screenshots from Rafael's website and I'll explain why I chose this direction below.

Even though it's a web layout I found the use of the boxes very interesting in this one. The way the images are placed, one without background the other with a background and within a rectangular box, along with text boxes which of course match the color of the furniture even thought they have different opacity makes it look really modern. I really like the simplicity behind it too.

In this one you can see how they used the spread in this one. It's yet another very simple design but which looks very rich and modern. The use of a simple circle at the bottom right of the left page is such a subtle move but it really enhances the look I believe, so it's really interesting as an inspiration if applicable in my design.

This one is interesting too, yes the one at the bottom is good too by how the image occupies the a good 3/4 of the right page but I was more intrigued by the design above this one. The one with an image in a Trapezium Frame with a big chunk of text on the left and a tiny paragraph in the corner on the right page.

I actually find this one really interesting too since there will most certainly be over 3 images on the spread because I talked about 3 of his projects in the interview. In this spread the tiny images are placed in a Gallery format, and still they used both pages. Some images are found just on the middle line and it doesn't look any bad, it just make it more pleasing to look at.
If you look at Rafael's website you can see that his projects all have this modern rich appeal to it which is the reason why I decided to go with this style. Furthermore his website represent everything in a simple Square Tiles manner, I might use this but I also want to make the layout interesting too. Looking at the colors this time you can clearly see different shades of gray/black, sometimes with white but there's also lots of warm colors. So I'll set these as the color theme for the spread.
