This week we had a linocut workshop, where we were taught how to carve the lino paper and use the lino ink to finally print it on any paper, we were given a demonstration from our lecturer after which we could do some try out from the ready made templates she brought and of course, we had to make one of our own.

I did this creature which was supposed to be in my Design Principles project but which got rejected since there has been a few changes.

The creature has the face of a raven to represent misfortune, a slender body to represent deprivation, an hourglass at the back to represent this approaching death and the design of some line coming towards him which furthermore reflects it’s pain, it actually symbolizes the deprived people I’ve seen and met around Malaysia.

I did 2 trials on two different paper, one on an ordinary paper which turn out really well and the other on a sort of fiber paper which didn’t had a vivid and opaque finish.
