We were given some sheet to fill to better identify our own vision of what design is so that we can implement that value or idea in our design for both the placard and the GD Map.
The first paper, the illustration shows where am I, 'Comme un poisson dans l'eau' is a French expression that expresses that I am feeling like I'm in my element in design and I guess the rest are straightfoward.
This is the second paper we had where I explain what I thought design was and how it revealed to be something better and I've brief, with the help of my friend plot my project works out and find out that most of my projects are actually on the 'Discursive' Side since I tend to raise questions about various subject matters.
Lastly I explained what designer caught my attention more and are now my inspiration. To be honest, I didn't know any designers before I started the course, but yeah my interest revealed to be a focus on humanity mostly and Stefan Sagmeister revealed to be an inspiration since he touches similar subjects.
For the primary sketches, I thought that with a pencil I can really explore a few effects much faster than on digital. So I did those which I tried to relate back to the main theme, the first one represent a land slide, that's why it's falling off in the middle. The second one is a 3D sketch which I would like to try on digital since I've just learnt that. No. 3 is based on the Dubai man made Islands and that's why it's dusty like this. Lastly the forth has the 'Time' included in it, showing that as time goes that the impact on environment can be huge, such as the few dam failure that there was in the past. One that happened in China is just an example but, it did happen almost all over the Globe, the causes was always a flaw in the design as time slowly wear it off.
Here is the one I did in 3D, I've screenshot it since, it takes forever to render. However, I created a unique material that looks like concrete for it to again relate back to the architectural/infrastructural development.
I've used the word 'Be Aware' since actually I wanted to put the emphasis on the fact that designers should be well informed, especially about the side effects.
I also wanted to focus myself on the fact that designer's must straighten humanity's path whenever they go astray, thereby the need for a simple font instead of a display font.
I've added further details about the reasons behind why I chose the follow fonts in the yellow box, and the 3D text up there was made using the thin version of the 'Montserrat' family
The orange box is just for reference, and the parallelogram as well, I just forget to remove them while exporting. But basically there's just one sketch on this image and it is the 'Sarpanch Extra bold' text that is sort of broken, and it was made this way to illustrate a land slide.
Just some of my reflection during the exploration of the subject
