Progressing from where I left off last time with the name for the campaign. After having some input from people it was way easier to know the right tone.

I realized that I should somehow focus more on the girl rather than on the unborn child, cuz my aim is to reduce teenage pregnancy with the campaign and not to help teenage moms which will be another challenge in itself.

I tried changing the word 'baby' to 'child', which allowed me to add the line 'spare her life' which relates more to the teenage girl. Might need more refinement, but it's taking shape.

Then I tried another one 'Give her the Chance' which is okay, but not quite there yet, since it doesn't directly address the issue.

I took these photographs that seems to be fun and depicted safe sex in a very humorous manner. However, after all the suggestions and comments I got from my Interview, I realized that this won't work at all since the Malays will take this as an offence.

I then explored many different possibilities for the concept. Since I have to find related words to address the issue in a fun way and related visuals to the words that won't appeal as a blasphemy to the Malays.

One idea was Tap Water, which was recommended to me by a friend from discussing about this idea. I saw some potential in it, by having some photographs and so on. But I still felt limited since I didn't what else to do with it.

Then, I thought of illustrating some sperm in the form of vector arts, which..... may or may not work.... but still it was too direct and not so engaging or catchy.

Finally, I came up with the idea of milk, since from my early years in high school, this was a fun way we were joking about sperm.

I actually found a lot more inspiration with this direction and I could come up with many more interesting copies such as:

  • Catch your Splash

  • It's easy to miss

  • One drop and it's over

  • You want this, not this (refer to the board to understand the context and application of this one)

I did one supporting graphic that could be a good direction for the visual. The board with a blue background.

I chose blue maybe out of the Nestle blue pack of milk I always buy here in Malaysia but I may change the colour scheme since it's not finalized yet and the font as well.

Thinking about it I think the main title could be 'Catch your Splash' and the others including 'Spare the Child' and 'Spare her Life' could be supporting copies of that main theme.

While exploring for my Critical Context Stage 2, I came across an article about France who Placed Condom Vending Machine in High Schools and Colleges, which received a lot of Backlash from the Catholic Community there.

Since an article covered this topic and they stated how the Pope was wrong to fight this measure, the Pope reacted to it by, maintaining his words, but opening up to the idea in extreme conditions only. However, this partial acceptance is a good step towards educating people about it.

My big idea was then to have a follow up to this project in my part 2, where I will share this project around to collect some opinions from Malays and then I would use this data to create a much bolder campaign to address the need for such measures.

I also included a summary of my process for this project, which include information gathered from the interview I did where I learnt about the process of obtaining the acceptance by the Malay Communities to perform this project. It included a new Secondary resource where I found that the use of Condoms reduces sexual pleasure, therefore it can somehow reduce the desire to have sex if it is being used frequently.

Critical Context Stage 2 Draft 3

Talking of which here's my draft 3 for the Critical Context Stage 3, which is now fully completed. I included the flow of the content since it was modified a lot during the process.

Here's my strange but effective planning if that interests anyone lol
