I started by sketching the characters and try to make them look interesting while adding a personality to their design.

The red circles are a couple of eyes that I tried to draw at that time I was trying to obtain a realistic result but I was always unsatisfied with the result after adjusting the eyelids several times it still looks so plain and boring.

Then I tried a couple of anime eyes the pink circles, and this one looked more interesting of course but it wasn't the appeal that I wanted for my main character.

Then came the time where I started taking some reference from Tim Burton's characters, and to be honest the follow tryout for the eyes encircled in brown fits my vision of my main character so perfectly.

And the eye number 4 in red was a mixture of the Tim Burton style and the normal realistic eyes, but it still looked boring so I chose to abandon this idea as well.

I've started designing ideas for my second main character, the woman buying ice cream, I did a primary sketch of how I wanted her body to look like, not much details on her since she's among the other 'casual' people in the story, I just needed a character that people will recognize for the coming scenes. Meanwhile in light blue is the face of this character and actually, I wanted everybody to look this way in the story except the protagonist of course. Even the ice cream God would look like this since he is like the 'influencer' here.

In light red is the female character fully, but not finalized yet, I tried to give her a simple hair style but it looked so boring.

Therefore, I tried other hair style, number 1 in yellow is a really casual hair style and I tried to give it a curly look. Number 2 was a really exaggerated curly hair, while staying safely in the boundaries of a casual person.

Number 4 is another idea where I tried to make it looked curly and long.

Number 5 and 6 in yellow are some other freaky hair style I tried and lastly number 3 was a mixture of an ordinary curly and freaky hair style I did but I end up rejecting it since it didn't express that simple look of that character, it would have give her a more interesting look just like the protagonist, which I didn't want. I wanted the protagonist to be the only interesting character in the scene except maybe the ice cream God.

So I choose idea 1 in yellow while still being open to other coming ideas, if there's any.

The dark red, was some tryouts for the protagonist's hairstyle, number 1 is a really basic curly and short hair, just to make it interesting else it would have been boring.

The hair cut encircled in red is like a based for he coming idea, it's just a sort of elevation on the left to show his intellect somehow, like a well combed hair somehow

It was like, taking example on this one but make it look more 'cool' instead. Then I came up with idea 2 to make it even more interesting with the 3 semi circles.

Then I tried a straight hair in number 3 but it actually looked really funny, like a sort of nazi. 😂😂😂

And at end I tried something more emo and punk.

I took some inspiration from Chris Motionless from Motionless in White and Davey Havok, from AFI to make the hair style number 4 which seems to fits him the most.
