i wanted to use the word sweet as representing comfort, instead of using something that relates directly to sugar

For my first idea, I thought of like showing the difference between a person who can't taste at all and a person who can taste, Showing that the one who can't taste is being more depressed and more hateful somehow; from my research I found that there is a disease called Ageusia which don't allow people to taste any food. This usually happen after an accident when the part of the brain which can sense is lost and the people with this disease are very sentimental claiming that they feel outcast and unsafe in their own house, they claim that each place use to leave an aroma, just like the aroma of wet leaves after the rain, their house always have an aroma, and after the accident that cause the lost of their sense of taste they realized that they can't perceive these thing, some even go further claiming that they feel like being ghost, unable to participate, a research claim that taste also link to memory therefore losing it is also losing some other emotions. So this first idea is more like a sensitization to represent the importance of the sense of taste,

Another research shows that since animal only eat instinctively they tend to lose their taste buds therefore there are some tastes they can't perceive and then I found that us human beings, our taste buds always keep on changing and that when we're old we lose those taste buds to perceive those really tasty food and that's why old people changes their eating habit to eating simple food. In another sense without being able to taste we wouldn't really mind what type of food we're eating and another research proves that every idea we get comes from that first source that we either sense or see, so in a way; if we can't taste sweet we would certainly lose some ideas for the design that we have today,

So for this idea I wanted to show how the world has change with the sense of taste, showing that this sense had contribute to the designs that we have today

therefor its starts with a colorless world where people has never tasted sweet before, so they only eat raw flesh and don't really mind of their environment, then they find a sweet, or a bit of sugar and as soon as they eat it their world blooms with colors and they started hating everything around them changing everything to a world that resemble ours.

While researching, I've found a few people talking about taste but in a more intriguing way, they claim that in the world of today since the medias has a high influence on the majority of the people as soon as something is trendy, everybody will adopt this fashion or lifestyle or whatever as their own culture and therefore it's like in this world we have lost our sense of taste since we only follow the trend.

Using this concept as a reference I've got the idea for an animation where there's is too many sweet everywhere to represent the influence of media on us. I wanted also to show the people as being lifeless as if they are some sort of machines that only follows whats they are told. They are not happy and don't have any passion.

After some research I started focusing myself on the hierarchy of designs, food, anything relating to one's taste, and I found out that there is some differences that can be identifies, I found a Youtuber who used to travel a lot and she showed 2 grocery stores in her video, a cheap one and a more expensive one, the fruit and meat at the cheaper store were in such a bad condition, some of the fruits where even rotten and compiled with the other fruits. And concerning the design, the high class people always have all sort of luxuries, comfort and facilities compared to the lower classes.

Therefore, my idea was similar to the second one, where the people are living in a colorless world and that they don't really live in a clean environment however I wanted to put some emphasis on the fact that they were all together this time, and then just like in the second story, they discover a sweet which symbolizes comfort, thence they began dividing into groups each having different amount of colors and tone of colors to represent the hierarchy.

These are all my exploration meanwhile, I've had a tutorial with the lecturer where she expresses that she feels that some of my ideas are a bit too far from the main theme sugar however she said that she enjoyed that first idea and that she thinks that it can be further developed by making it a sort of image to represent the life of a pessimist who can' feel the sweetness of the world. I've really enjoyed this analogy and I'm actually thinking on developing my idea in this direction.
