We had to write a short summary for the animation and I just thought that it will be nice if I posted it here as well;

The concept behind the animation is based on the overly optimistic world of today, with the influence of media driving everyone toward just one direction only, described in the story as a god in the form of ‘a pile of ice cream’, since ice cream is sweet and known as a delightful dish relating again to the optimistic world and furthermore creating an indirect link to the main theme sugar. The animation expresses a dark image of the world from the perspective of a pessimist who sees the wrong in being always happy unlike everyone around him who are always happy. The aim is to make the audience question themselves about the influence of media, It’s a question that, from my research, some people believe is necessary for a better future but at the same time might be quite triggering, therefore, there is this sort of double meaning in the animation, suggesting that a pessimist could also be a boon to the other people. I might have been influenced by some of the conceptual music that I use to enjoy, such as Happiness by IAMX, Le Detenteur by Beyond Creation, just to name a few. And I’ve taken a bit of inspiration from H. P Lovecraft to write the extract which will be read throughout the animation, the storyline itself is a bit based on Lovecraft’s stories, I also wanted to use Tim Burton’s animations and Coraline as a reference to draw the characters and create the atmosphere.
