I started working on the voice over a bit, just to give it a try and also to see whether I can do the voice over myself or I'll have to ask help from a friend of mine to do it.
I did over 20 recordings of my own voice with different tones rhythms trying to find the best tone that will suit the video better.
I've used reaper to work on some of them. Here's some of the recordings, I've chosen those with the most significant difference.
This one was made using my phone's microphone, one is a whispery voice the other is a more normal voice.
Here is how it sound all together, I think it has a quite interesting atmosphere with it, along with the noises of the mic, so it's worth sharing.
These records were done using another microphone, It's actually the one from my synthesizer.
I've started with a whispering voice as well, and I've experimented a bit with the distance of my mouth from the micro a bit, since it turned out to be a really sensitive mic.
In these recordings I tried different tones and different pace of narration as well as a more ordinary tone instead of whispers.
The first narration was another one with an ordinary narration and the last one was another experimental piece, I've actually chosen to work on the experimental piece in order to...... yeah.... basically experiment.
This is the experimental piece after I've edited it, I did some dynamic vocal editing, as it was called from the Youtube tutorial I watched, to remove the beating lips sounds which was professional at all and you can actually hear the difference.
I've also added an EQ, a compressor and a Limiter to make it sound louder and clearer and to remove a few noise from it.
This sound was actually made by myself using my synthesizer, I tried something quick simple but creepy.
Here is how the whole thing sound all together, with the soundtrack and the voice over. I think this one as well has a nice atmosphere to it.
I had my tutorial afterwards, and the lecturer said that I can use this audio but I actually need to reduce the sound of the music and maybe add some subtitles since it's not clear at all, it was even harder to listen to the words on the speakers. However as I said this was just an experimental piece so I still want to improve the music and the vocals, maybe using a louder voice instead.
Furthermore, I've concluded that the mic of the synthesizers was too sensitive and it isn't a long range microphone, you have to actually glue your mouth to the mic to obtain some sound out of it and when you do that, it will also record all the lip sounds, breathing sounds and throat sounds, especially my throaty voice.
